Dr. Georgios Matis, MD, MSc, PhD, is a highly accomplished neurosurgeon and expert in neuromodulation and pain management, currently serving as Director of Interventional Pain Management, Spasticity & Neuromodulation at Hygeia Hospital in Athens, Greece. Previously, he held leadership roles at the University Hospital of Cologne where he led the chronic pain and spasticity section within the Department of Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery.

Dr. Matis completed extensive training across Europe and the United States, including neurosurgical and neuroradiology fellowships at internationally recognized institutions such as Weill Cornell Medical College (New York) and the University Hospital of Zurich, along with clinical experience in Greece and Germany. He is board certified in neurosurgery and licensed to practice in multiple countries, reflecting a global commitment to advancing neurological care.

His clinical and research expertise is focused on advanced neuromodulation therapies for chronic pain and spasticity, including spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, intrathecal therapies, and other innovative interventional approaches. He is also Editor-in-Chief of The Internet Journal of Neurosurgery and engages internationally as an invited speaker, instructor, and mentor.
