Dr. Aminul Islam is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in laboratory development, infectious disease research, and research capacity building. His contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and his continued work in molecular biology reflect a strong commitment to scientific excellence and public health advancement.
He played a key role in the establishment of five government laboratories for SARS-CoV-2 detection and has provided specialized RT-PCR training to more than 100 medical professionals and 200 recent graduates, strengthening national diagnostic capabilities.
Dr. Islam holds both BSc and MSc degrees in Microbiology, completed with commendable academic performance. He has an established record of research dissemination through publications in reputable scientific journals and demonstrates strong capability in securing national and international research funding.
As Head of the Advanced Molecular Laboratory, he has led multidisciplinary research teams investigating pathogenic viruses and bacteria from diverse sources. Additionally, his role as Lab Team Leader of the NSTU COVID-19 Laboratory provided him with valuable expertise in genomic surveillance and viral research.
